About Us
The Beginning:
Our full-service salon was established in 1990 as a small neighborhood pet supply and grooming center called "Joie de Vie". Sam Martello and Bob Goure's focus was to build a "small town" neighborhood hang out for pet lovers in the hub of the big city. As word of mouth spread throughout the industry many local top groomers came on board, business grew and our need for space increased and Sam introduced the additon of our extended doggie daycare playroom.
With our cabin decor, the "down to earth" home-like enviroment was ideal for our clients. Sam felt that if he created an ambience that was similiar to their homes, they would feel comfortable in our over 5600 sq. ft. facility. Sam has hand-picked a trustworthy caring staff who's love for animals shows in their work.
The Owner:
Sam Martello was born in Oroville - a small town in Northern California. After graduating from Fresno State, he made his way to Los Angeles. He landed a job working for a financial investment firm, but he always felt that something was missing in his life. So in march of 1990, fate stepped in while Sam was buying treats for his dog. The two guys behind the counter of the pet supply store wanted out of the business. Sam saw this as his perfect opportunity to start a new life. Excited, he walked up to the two guys and told them, "I'll buy it!" and the rest is history...
*Now 14 years later, while building firm roots in the community, Sam has made many life-long friends. Play-It-To-The-Bone Grooming and Daycare is still going and grooming strong, with dedication and a deep love for animals and people, Sam has found his calling.
Charities, Donations and Contributions:
Sam's Play-It-To-The-Bone Grooming supports the community by donating to various charities including the Pediatric Aids Foundation, Carpenter Elementary School, and PAWS/LA. We feel that by offering wonderful services for pets and their family's we can contribute to our growing neighborhoods.
